Visitations are vital to a child maintaining family relationships, cultural connections, and an overall sense of well-being through family transitions.
Kids Bridge provides a safe and positive way for children to visit with their parents through difficult family transitions. We serve divorced or separated parents and children living in St. Johns County, Florida (or nearby surrounding counties) with supervised visitations and monitored exchanges. While most visitation services are court-ordered, we believe a family’s time at Kids Bridge also provides a tremendous opportunity for connection and healing.
What we Do
On-Site Supervised Visitation
Contact between a parent and their child(ren) in the presence of a third person who is responsible for observing and ensuring the safety
of those involved. |
On-Site Monitored Exchanges
Supervision of the transfer of the child(ren) from one parent to the other, limited to the actual transfer with the remainder of the visit unsupervised.
|
On-Site Monitored
Phone Calls When regular phone contact needs
to occur in a safe setting, Kids Bridge can place those calls and remain on the line to ensure child-focused conversations. |
HOW IT WORKS
Visitations are required by the courts for various reasons including problems with divorce, domestic violence, abuse, neglect, or simply an unusually long lapse of time in which a child has not seen a parent and needs to become reacquainted. The intake process includes policies and procedures to ensure a safe visit for children and parents, and all parties are required to complete an intake interview with our staff prior to scheduling visits. Children and visiting parent(s) are given a private, child-friendly room at Kids Bridge, and monitored by a trained visit supervisor who is neutral to the family situation and will document the interaction and activities of the two hour visit. Our staff's primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and secure setting for children, free from parental violence or conflict.
Healing Arts Program
The Healing Arts Program takes place as part of a supervised visit. This program offers the non-custodial parent and their child the opportunity to attend an on-site art class. Kids Bridge has partnered with local artists, art instructors and arts organizations to bring a variety of mediums to Healing Arts. The mission of the Healing Arts program is to transform the parent-child relationship, using art as a tool to promote understanding as they learn to relate to one another. |
Parent Coaching Program
Parent Coaching also takes place as part of a supervised visit. This program offers the visiting non-custodial parent the opportunity to hone their parenting skills. A Parenting Coach will provide parent education, support, and assistance before, during and after parents visit with their children in order to strengthen family bonding and increase positive interactions. Kids Bridge Parent Coaches use an evidence-based parenting education model, Nurturing Parenting, as the foundational curriculum. |
